Pete and Christine

Peter & Christine - Co Founders & Directors

Peter is originally from Birmingham but moved to Slough as a child. He initially trained as a barber before moving into hairdressing whilst growing up in the area. Having qualified, he moved to London where he furthered his training and worked his way up to being the top Stylist whilst managing “Micheal London” , which was one of the top salons in London at the time. Notably, whilst Peter was there, they won the L’Oreal Trophy on more than one occasion.

Christine, born and raised in London, with a sharp eye for fashion, began working in a West London hairdressers as the apprentice for them and the barber’s shop next door. She left to further her career at a busier and more reputable London Salon before eventually being headhunted for a top london salon as a Premier Stylist and Salon Manager.

Peter & Christine met in February 1980 at local Maidenhead nightspot ‘Skindles’, unaware at the time that they were both hairdressers. In 1981 they decided to combine as a team, not only in life, but also in business. They combined their talent, and years of experience in London, to open a salon back where Peter was from; to bring their taste of London to the home counties.

After a search that took a few years, in October 1983, they opened the doors to “Peter London” (which is now known as “Cracknells Hairdressing”) and began their journey of transforming a small pocket of Maidenhead into one of the busiest salons in the area. Along the way they have undergone the obvious name change to “Cracknells Hairdressing” and juggled the business while raising a family. Both of their sons have joined them in the industry, the most notable being their youngest son, Tommy, who is a Premier Stylist at one of the top salons in the world: Richard Ward Metro Spa, Chelsea.

As you can imagine, they have trained on many courses and have a wealth of experience, both working in the industry for over 50 years and running their own salon for the last 35. Christine has also managed to squeeze in a degree in Colour which she passed with the highest grade possible from L’Oreal, making her one of the top Colour Experts in the UK.
